Most Sprinters will use a typical running shoe for their training sessions at the gym or on the tracks, and however, when it comes to performance and competitions, they opt for more specialized Sprinting shoes that may have spikes or a spikeless design.
Sprinting shoes offer a sleek and secure fit, with good stability features and a high technology foam or carbon plate to enhance energy return and performance.
New Balance shoes for sprinting come in their spiked designs and lightweight running shoe models for training.
Their sprinting shoes offer a snug boot-like the fit, with features such as the Pebax plate for stability and removable spikes.
Shoes for Sprinting
Most Sprinters use regular lightweight running shoes for practicing and their training sessions for sprinting.
However, you do get specialized sprinting shoes that can have removable spikes for actual competitions. The Spikes provide better grip and stability and get energy return when sprinting. Sprinting Spikes shoes are generally more lightweight and ideal for top performance.
A good lightweight and supportive running shoe are ideal for regular training because most of the training will not be directly on the track.
What to Look for in a Good Sprinting Shoe
In any running shoe for sprinting you want a snug fit, good stability, and good energy return;
- Fit – Sprinting shoes need to offer a snug and boot-like fit that is not too tight. More flexible and mesh materials are ideal as they adapt to the shape of your feet.
- Stability – Runner that sprint aggressively attack the ground, thus need gig stability. A rounded sole or lack of support mat causes a runner to feel unstable.
- High Energy Return – Most Sprinters use Sprint Spike because they help conserve energy by allowing your feet to easily bounce off the ground with every step that you take.
- Light and Durable – Your running shoes need to be lightweight and very durable. They need to handle the high forces of sprinting yet be lightweight enough to disrupt your sprinting technique.
