Brooks Slip-Resistant Shoes

Slip-resistant shoes generally have a more lug or grippy tread on the outsole that offers better stability and grip on floors and surfaces that may be wet or slippery.

Many Brooks shoe models, including all of their Trail shoe models, have a more grippy or tacky outsole that offers exceptional grip on wet and dry floor surfaces.

Why You May Need Slip Resistant Shoes

Slips and falls can cause serious injuries and, in some cases, even be fatal. There are a few reasons why you may need a more grippy soled shoe;

  • Trails – Walking, running, or hiking on trails means that there will be wet and slippery rocks, grass, uneven surfaces, and loose sand, for which you need a good grip.
  • Work – The floors of your work environment may be quite slippery, where a more slip-resistant and high-traction athletic shoe may come in handy.
  • Wet Conditions – When you walk or run on wet roads or pavements, they may be quite slippery, whereas a more grippy soled shoe can help to provide better traction.

Brooks Sliip-Resistant Shoes

Brooks has regular road running shoes that have a more grippy and higher traction design outsole, and they also have a certified slip-resistant shoe model, as well as their Trail shoe models with the tacky TrailTack rubber outsoles for slip-resistance.

Features of a Good Brooks Slip Resistant Shoe

Although most Brooks shoes have a slip-resistant and high traction rubber outsole, ether is some models, such as the certified slip-resistant walking shoe models and Trail shoe models, that offer a much more grippy outsole. I have chosen models from all the categories that have the most grippy and high traction outsoles;

  • Uppers – Brooks shoes come in a variety of upper materials. Their leather and full grain leather models are usually from their walking shoe ranges and are more durable and ideal for colder weather conditions. The Mesh and Re-Engineered Creel Warp Mesh models are very lightweight and breathable, while their knit models have a more sleek and flexible fit overall. All their shoe models come with a moisture-wicking textile lining, and some have a padded collar. They may have 3D print overlays for the structure that will still be lightweight and quite flexible. In terms of the Trail shoe models, the uppers will be a waterproof mesh or Monoloop mesh with 3-D print, some models having the GTX Gore-Tex breathable waterproof lining. There may also be a TPU Mud Guard and sued reinforcements in the trail’s shoes to keep your feet dry and protected. Some models have an EVA underfoot sheath for protection.
  • Cushioning – brooks shoe models do come with a padded or cushioned insole or sock liner that may be removable, which in turn allows you to use your own orthotic devices. Different forms of midsole cushioning may be used depending on the type of shoe and its purposes, whereas your stability ranges will have firmer midsoles and your neutral ranges, more plush cushioning. The DNA Loft cushioning is the softest and most luxury midsole that is still responsive. The BioMoGo DNA midsole is more adaptable as it adapts to your weight, speed, and stride by providing impact resistance as needed. The DNA Flash midsole is a firmer midsole that is still quite lightweight, for better stability and durability. The DNA AMP midsole actually expands underneath your feet and returns energy to your feet, giving a much more springy feeling. Segmented Crash Pads may be used in key areas for impact protection and additional cushioning.
  • Support – You do get stability and neutral slip-resistant shoe models from Brooks. Most of their slip-resistant certified models have more stability features. Support features may include GuideRails, which keeps excess movement to a minimum. Then there is also the popular rollbar technology, which is more of a motion control feature for excessive overpronation to allow more natural body alignment. More Plush Transition zones in certain models provide a smother heel-to-toe transitioning.
  • Outsole – The regular shoe models from brooks that we have chosen for their slip resistance are road running shoes with a more lug patterned, high traction rubber outsole. Then we have the trail shoe models that have a tacky rubber outsole called the TrailTack rubber outsole for slip resistance on wet and dry surfaces. Then again, there is the certified (SATRA TM144:2011) outsole for slip resistance that is proven and reliable.
  • Options – Brooks shoe models for slip-resistance are available in more colors. There are some models that have width options available from narrow to wide, or wide, and extra wide. There are also full and half sizes available to help you get that perfect fit.
