Then individuals that have an inflammatory type of arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis or gout, may also easily develop Metatarsalgia.
  • Complications – If you leave Metatarsalgia untreated, it can lead to pain in other parts of the body, because you are trying to lump or accommodate for the foot pain, which can then again lead to knee pain and hip pain.
  • Treatment – There are a few conservative measures that you can take to treat Metatarsalgia in less severe cases. It would be ideal for you to rest and to try and avoid high-impact activities that can place excessive impact on your feet. You can use an iced pack on the painful area for a few minutes, or massage the area gently. Over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen and naproxen sodium can also help with the pain. You can use metatarsal pads in the ball of the foot area that provides more cushioning. Lastly, you need to consider the type of footwear that you are wearing. I would ideally suggest footwear with proper cushioning a fool. Cushioned in soul and met soul, or additional padding in the ball of the foot area, as well as good arch support.
