If you tend to run or walk in wet weather, work in wet conditions, or just enjoy trails, then a waterproof shoe may be just what you need.
Brooks waterproof shoes offer a full Gore-Tex waterproof lining that allows the shoe to breathe, whoever offers fully waterproof protection.
We have also included Brooks water-resistant shoes for protection in rainy weather that is not as substantial.
Why You May Need Waterproof Athletic Shoes
Waterproof Athletic shoes can come in quite handy under these circumstances;
- When It Rains – If you enjoy walking or running, a bit of rain could cause wet and cold feet that may become quite uncomfortable. For rainy and wet weather, water-resistant shoes are ideal.
- Hiking and Trail Walking – Walking or Trail running outdoors often involves wetness such as streams, puddles, and mud, where you need a fuller waterproof shoe.
- Wet Work Environments – For working in a more casual environment where you come into contact with wet floors or work outdoors, a waterproof athletic shoe can be comfortable and provide good protection.
Waterproof or Water Resistant
As you will see, I have added fully waterproof shoe models from Brooks that have a Gore-Tex membrane providing full waterproofing and protection.
Your water-resistant models are more suited for light rainy situations or water splashes as they only resist water but are not fully waterproof.
Features of a Good Brooks Waterproof Shoe
I have chosen Brooks she models that are waterproof and also water resistant to provide you with waterproof protection, as you will notice most of their waterproof and water-resistant shoe models will be trail walking and running shoes;
- Uppers – The Waterproof and water-resistant range will have mesh or re-engineered Creel warp mesh uppers. You get the Waterproof Monoloop Mesh 3D print uppers that are fully waterproof, the 3D print providing structure and stability, which is still quite flexible. Then there is the waterproof and water-resistant mesh. And Gore-Tex lined, or GTX models with a Gore-Tex lining that is fully waterproof but still very breathable. The leather shoe models offer good water resistance with synthetic or full grain leather uppers. However, they are not fully waterproof. Some Trail models also offer a TPU Mud Guard for protection against debris and drainage slits to release water for your feet to dry faster. There ay also internal reinforcements that are quick drying. Brooks waterproof shoe models have an interior moisture-wicking lining to keep your feet dry inside and outside.
- Cushioning – Brooks shoe models may have a removable padded, or foam insole, or sock liner. However, there are different types of Midsole technologies used, and some models even combine some midsole technologies for a more extravagant ride. The DNA Loft cushioning is the softest and most responsive, with the DNA Flash being the firmer and more stable nitrogen-infused midsole. Then there is the DNA AMP Midsole that will provide more energizing cushioning, often combined with the BioMoGo DNA midsole, which is your more balanced midsole that absorbs impact and provides adaptable cushioning.
- Support – For support, many Brooks shoes come with GuideRails that reduce excess movement without limiting you. There are also some models with an Extended Progressive Diagonal Rollbar (PDRB), which will help support your entire body by guiding and keeping you in a more natural path of motion. As you will see, the neutral shoe models will not have these technologies, only the stability models.
- Outsole – The Trail waterproof shoes from Brooks have a tacky and durable lug rubber outsole called the TrailTack outsole, with a Ballistic shield for underfoot protection. The regular road models will have a rubber outsole with a patterned tread for traction. There are also shoe models with an innovative outsole certified (SATRA TM144:2011) slip resistant. However, these models are rarely waterproof.
- Options – the shoe models we chose to offer you many options in terms of more colors. There are also wider or narrower width options in some models, as well as full and half size fit options from which you can choose to get the right fit.
